My Independent Midwives Partners
If you hire me for your birth you get two independent midwives for one once you go into labour. I work with the midwives below to guarantee we can safely assist you in birthing your baby. It is an insurance requirement, but it is also the safest way for us to practice. When you book your package of care I will ask one of them to be the second midwife at the birth. You will meet your allocated second midwife at one of the third trimester appointments. It is important for us to have a back up for any eventualities. In the very unlikely event that I cannot attend your birth such as severe sickness or being at another birth these two wonderful independent midwives can also cover for me. Be aware I can only book two women per month.
Bethany Rose Woodger
I found Beth when I was looking for colleagues in the area to work in partnership with. When I met her I though, “Dam! I wish you would have been practicing when I was pregnant with my son a year ago!” She inspired me the confidence and strength of convictions I was looking for in a midwife. She is also kind, courageous and writes great midwifery posts on Instagram.
Since our first meeting we have become friends and we often take our children together on play dates in Sudbury to plan midwifery adventures and support each other in our journeys.
Beth has ample experience in homebirths, has an interest in teaching and she offers antenatal education. She is an important part of the pregnancy circle, lending her expertise in an array of topics.
Cheryl Samuels
Chery and I qualified within a year of each other from the same university. We both worked in the same community team at different times and finally we worked together as lecturers at the University of Suffolk for a year. There, our affinities became obvious and she became one of my close colleagues. I always pictured her as an independent midwife, so I was thrilled when she told me she was going to go for it. We agreed to be each other´s seconds there and then even though we were both just getting our business going. I have lots of respect for her as she has a wide career, she is great at illustrating midwifery posters and she coordinated a popular campaign to ask the government for more funding for midwives. She is also very kind, generous and has a sweet calming presence.
Apart from supporting each other at births, Cheryl also helps me run the pregnancy circle where once a month she shares some Hypnobirthing meditations with the group.
